  • Remind the students "The narrator has an active imagination" and together write a character analysis of this thesis statement.  
  • Discuss Tell Tale Heart (elements of Fiction)
    • Who is the protagonist (narrator even though he is a bad guy)
    • Antagonist (narrator's own mind)
    • What is the conflict? (Internal)  
    • Where is the climax? (when he confesses)
    • What is the theme? (Don't let your imagination run away with you.  Sometimes guilt can over come you)

  • Recognize how an author develops the points of view of characters by revealing thoughts, feelings, actions and spoken words
  • Analyze how differences in the points of view of the characters and the audience create suspense.
