Nov. 17-21

Objective:
  • Choose a side of the argument and identify reasons that support my choice.
  • Support an argument with textual evidence ("word for word" support) found in credible sources.
  • Acknowledge counter claims
  • Present argument in a formal style that include an introduction, supporting details with transitions, and provide a concluding statement that supports argument.

  • Give paper or electronic copy of Notes Page

Lesson:
  • Go over claim and support from Bell Work
  • Finish notes
  • Look back at Mentor text:  claim and support statements
  • Some will begin argument paper.

  • Show poor research notes
  • Model:  New Doc in Assignment folder
  • How to write a letter
  • Look over mentor text
  • Show In Text Citation video in Smart Video Player 
  • Begin Argument paper in Assignment folder in Docs (paper due Friday)

  • Tell students about dad having an argument about Doberman's with the only support being movies and your claim about Doberman's.
  • Read the mentor text and find the claim, support, intro, and conclusion, underline and write in the margins.
